Laboratory of Energy Efficiency and Green Economy

The Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Approval of the Strategy for the Transition of the Republic of Uzbekistan to a Green Economy for the period 2019-2030" notes: "In particular, accelerated industrialization and population growth significantly increase the economy's need for resources, as well as increase the negative anthropogenic impact on the environment and the growth of greenhouse gas emissions. Low level of energy efficiency of the economy, irrational consumption of natural resources, slow renewal of technologies, weak participation of small businesses in the implementation of innovative solutions for the development of "green" economy hinder the achievement of priority national goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development of the country."

In order to solve the tasks set by the Government of the Republic, a Laboratory of Energy Efficiency and “Green” Economy was created in the Center, within the framework of which the laboratory will systematically train young people to solve urgent problems of the domestic industrial, agricultural, social sectors in the field of energy efficiency and “green” energy and with the help of the latest technologies.

Most of the developed countries are already emphasizing energy efficiency in various spheres of human activity and the development of green technologies such as hydropower, wind power, solar and bioenergy. Due to the increasing demand of countries for energy resources, it is the development of "green" energy that can become a key point of economic growth of the national economy without damaging the environment.

Our country is also working hard to improve energy efficiency and introduce renewable energy sources, but there is practically no structure that forms "energy efficient thinking" among young people, familiarizes schoolchildren and students with the most advanced developments in the field of energy saving and "green" technologies. The laboratory's work will be aimed at solving these tasks. To this end, the program "Energy and Water Efficient Thinking for Children and Adults" will be presented.

It is also planned to implement the production-oriented educational technology "Energy Efficiency of Industrial Enterprises and Introduction to Specialization" in technical universities, technical colleges, colleges and occupational schools of the republic. This technology is developed on the basis of Dual Education Technologies and Technical Assessment Centers. The "Industrial Asessment Center (IACs)" is implemented in 37 universities of the USA and is financed by the Ministry of Energy of the USA. These student-led centers study the technology map of a company, conduct research on energy-saving technologies for industrial applications, and develop recommendations for implementing "green" technologies, reducing energy costs, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Since its inception, the student-led IACs program has saved more than $4.5 billion in energy costs.
